Fred is a registered nurse and midwife and Shirley is a qualified teacher. Fred and Shirley are local people caring for local communities. Both Fred and Shirley have a proven track record of being caring, considerate, tactful, sympathetic and at all times discreet.
“Where caring comes first” is not just a motto, but something the Hampson’s believe in and live by, not only from arranging the funeral but to the after care of families as well.
Whilst Fred and Shirley were initially based in Gayndah, they purchased a house at Woodgate Beach in 2012 and these days divide their time between Woodgate Beach and Gayndah. They are thankful to have a very supportive team that enables them to work between both businesses.
Shirley possesses her Certificate IV in Celebrancy whilst Fred has studied the relevant units for becoming a funeral celebrant.
Both have years of experience in dealing with bereaved families and will work with families to ease the burden of their loss and organize a funeral service that is personalized and celebrates the life of your loved one in a way that their life is worth celebrating.
Both Shirley and Fred are available to perform any type of funeral service required by families including religious and non-religious ceremonies, cultural specific ceremonies, graveside services, committal ceremonies at crematoriums.

Funeral Director’s Assistant
Peta is a proud Gayndah local, having lived and been educated in the community all her life. Her deep roots in the area give her a strong connection to the families she serves, and a genuine understanding of local traditions and values.
Over the years with Burnett Regional Funeral Services, Peta has gained extensive experience across many roles — from administration and funeral director’s assistant, to transfer services and mortuary care. This hands-on knowledge means she is well equipped to guide families with both professionalism and compassion.
Peta is approachable, understanding, and always willing to listen. Families often find comfort in her caring nature and her ability to make difficult times feel a little lighter.
Debbie Grey
Office Manager
Debbie manages our Childers office, providing administrative support for both Childers Woodgate Funeral Services and Burnett Regional Funeral Services. Originally from South Africa, she moved to New Zealand 28 years ago before settling in Australia 19 years ago.
Passionate about people and their wellbeing, Debbie brings a wealth of experience in aged care, counselling, and 16 years as a high school chaplain, where she supported young people and their families through challenging times.
Debbie understands the importance of trust, compassion, and respect when supporting families through grief. She considers it a privilege to walk alongside the families we serve, offering care and support when they need it most.

Tina has been part of our team for some time and has become a highly valued and reliable member of Burnett Regional Funeral Services. Versatile and dedicated, she contributes across many areas including funeral director’s assistant, administration, transfer services, and maintenance.
A proud local, Tina and her family are deeply connected to the community. She is approachable, dependable, and always willing to lend a hand, making her an important part of both our team and the families we serve.
